Foot Pain and High Heels

I have always had big feet. I recall wanting to wear fashionable shoes as a teenager, and how painful it was squeezing my feet into shoes that were too small because I could not find large shoes in narrow size.

I am not sure just when I decided I would never wear fancy high heels, but I think it was sooner rather than later. Thank goodness. Wearing pointy-toed high heels can cause bunions and other foot problems, especially when spending long hours standing at a job.

To find out what bunions are, how to recognize them and care for them visit the Lahey Clinic Web site.

Using foot warmers as ice packs may help alleviate the pain of bunions and swelling from other foot ailments.
Maine Warmers' Foot Warmer Pad is microwaveable and freezable. Coolness will help reduce swelling, where heat relaxes muscles. This Back Warmer provides heat or cold therapy.

Barking puppies – that's what my grandfather used to call sore tired feet. They keep you from sleeping, even though you are dog-tired, make you growl and maybe howl.

Take care of those puppies and enjoy life more. The more you wag your tail the more others want to befriend you!

A foot massage can do wonders for sore feet. Check out how to massage your feet.
